Since Shane and his family live in the cluster of parishes, and are involved in the Kingswood Parish, he will continue to have a limited involvement in ministry (e.g. Cluster team meetings, Youth Mass at Colonel Light Gardens, Baptisms mainly at Goodwood, regular Sunday Mass at Kingswood, occasional weddings etc.) The date of the Marian Procession 2008 has been changed to May 18 as Archbishop Wilson, as President of the Australian Catholic Bishops, is attending their conference on the 1st Sunday in May. The Procession will also move to a new permanent site between Sir Leonard Cohen Ave & Peacock Road in the South Parklands. This site is the Pilgrim Peace Park. Map on noticeboards Let not your hearts be troubled It is lovely to have this beautiful Gospel today the fifth Sunday of Easter. This Gospel which comes from Jesus’ ‘Farewell Meal’ brings a message of hope and trust. when he spoke to his disciples about his departure. It is good here because the message of Jesus to the disciples after the resurrection is more ‘Do not be afraid I am with you and peace be with you’. The message of Jesus which brought comfort and consolation to the disciples is that in the absence of Jesus’ physical presence they will continue to have God’s presence still with them. The image used here is that of a household. Jesus is telling them there are many places in the Father’s house and after preparing the place Jesus will come back to bring them there and they will be together. The household of God is the community of those who believe in Jesus. You and I make up that community where Jesus, the Father and the Spirit dwell. We, as children of God’s household are the bearers of God’s image for our world. Jesus is our way, truth and life, and he is willing and always ready to guide and lead us if we are willing to allow Jesus to work through us to bring out the image of God in us. The Jesus who comforted the disciples is with us now and forever even in the midst of personal tragedy, worries and concerns. How and where do we see Jesus in our life? How can we allow Jesus to be our way, truth and life?
